I have an online teaching plan which has worked successfully with students on a one to one basis and in large seminar groups too. I always go back to the basics for a few minutes to start with during the first lesson, ie: single and multi note scales and slides, fret movements within chords etc. It soon becomes very clear how my own thinking patterns are working during my playing, I then move swiftly on to what I think will help you the most. You will be playing along with backing music from the first lesson. The audio of the whole hour is recorded by myself and forwarded to you within 24 hours along with the tabs, tracks, homework and pictures etc.

I have taken a number of lessons from David so far, and will take more. The "One to One" aspect is facilitated by Skype. So, it has all the advantages of a face to face lesson from a real pro. Plus, David provides an audio recording to review key points of the lesson.
This approach is really valuable for steelers who have no PSG teacher nearby, which I can imagine, would be most of us. Granted, there are some great "Tab and Track" packages out there, but the "One on One" approach can accelerate learning nicely.
The cost of the lesson, seems to me, to be very reasonable. David is a patient teacher and is serious about providing a good value.

Many thanks for the comments. and did you ever think we would be starting to learn some of the picking in Orange Blossom Special in your third lesson? I already am doing my homework for you and preparing a backing track for the instrumental you wish to learn.

David, just a quick note of appreciation from myself.
I bought my first PSG this year and have never touched the instrument before.
After playing around with it for some time I quickly realized I needed lessons, first of all to make progress, second to avoid getting into bad habits and finally to continue staying in love with this beautiful, but oh so difficult, instruments.
After 3 lessons wiith David I have learned songs, scales, licks and are having a lot of fun with the PSG already. It does not come without practice but with the progress I have already makes it worth every minute on the seat. On top of it you get backing tracks, tab sheets and recordings of the lessons for future reference.
I can tell all beginners (I cannot speak for proffessional unfortunately) that its worth every penny to take lessons. If you cannot afford them frequently then slow down the frequency and practice for longer periods in between.
Look forward to many more lessons David and maybe sometime in the future I can start to post youtube videos myself! As for now I dragging evey visitor and family member down to my music room to listen to my new learned lick etc.... |

Dave, are you still giving lessons, and how do I go about getting them. Due to have back surgery here soon, and will need something to work with. I have been trying to learn to play this for 25 years, and am still at a beginners stage. (Mine own opinion)
