You have sold me the last set of strings. You are one of the rudest businessmen I have ever come in contact with. I spend about $30.00 a month on strings, and expect .011 to last more than two jobs. Don,t give me that BS I,m doing something wrong, this is not my first rodeo. A MSA Millemium and a new Mullen G2, and both are breaking at the twist. This is not a one time deal, 7 strings in two weeks
is a string problem, and not an install problem. So if you don't want to be fair STICK YOUR STRINGS WHERE THE SUN DONT SHINE. There are plenty of string suppliers who stand behind there own product, and don't insult the hand that feeds them. |

well gentlemen here are the facts. when Sid answered the phone it was pretty clear he was under the influence of something. I play 10 to 20 jobs a month so I know a little about changing strings. in round figures I spent about $600.00 a year for strings. I had emailed him two times when ordering strings about the problem, which I received no reply.
so I called him to ask about the problem, and he immediately flew into a rage. there are two reasons for a string to break at the twist, a burr on the changer, or string weakness. Other companies have had the same problem from time to time. My bother had an issue with jagwire once, he called Danny, he thanked him for letting him know, and sent him 6 free strings. I like the strings and will keep using them, if Sid cares to make an apology |

My thoughts are that you owe Sid the apology. I've been using Sid's strings from the beginning of their arrival on the market. I've not broken 1 3rd string on my G2. Or any other string for that matter.

Dan's got a perfect right to say what his experiences are with live steel strings and the owner. That's what the forums for. I use Sid's strings myself and have never had a problem with them, but that doesn't mean s///. Just saying. Tennessee Lee

agree!!
i wouldn't like being called an asshole who couldn't play home on the range.
and if so, i wouldn't consider doing further business with 'em.
you'd think just out of good faith the guy could apologize and send you some new 3rd strings.
if his profit margin is so low he can't, it's not really a good endeavor.
both parties seem to have attitude issues,
like most steel playes.

While I don't like to see things degrade to name calling, it's not much of a stretch to imagine the alleged attitude. Dick Wood was the recipient of a rather curt response in a similar thread linked below. Dick and I talked about a trade a few years back, I found him to be even keeled, and an all around good guy. He just wanted his strings and couldn't understand the lack of reply from the vendor.

The irony is being completely unprofessional while calling someone out for being unprofessional. So much for being the better man.
Your personal correspondence is your own business, but maybe instead of dragging someone thru the muck on the SGF, a better thing to do would be to ask if anyone has had any trouble with breakage at the twist on LiveSteel sets. That could bring about useful data to offer Sid and show that this isn't about you, but about a run of the product.
Professionalism doesn't have to end at the edge of the stage. |

I'm gonna say upfront, I have zero experience with either the dealer (although I was about to order a few sets) or the OP......but.....
I've always believed that if a business generates sales via promoting and accolades on public message boards like this, then it's also more than valid for criticisms and discussions of issues with that biz to also be public and open for people to judge.
With that in mind, it's also true that there's just no pleasing some people, and everyone has an off day. |

I use Sid's strings and love them. Been using the for years. I had one beef with him, but all is forgiven. I suggest you get over it, and try someone elses strings.

| I know in the past few months Sid has been ill. I personally believe your experience was probably from medication he was taking. Meds can take a person that is quiet and laid back and make them do and say things they would have never done. I have never heard one bad word about him before on this forum. One thing I can say is Sid is a fantastic musician. I would suggest you try different strings. Personally I use SIT strings the Buddy Emmons series. I have tried several brands and they make my steel sound better to my ears. |
