I wish someone would start making a version of the Wheel-eze cases that Sierra used to sell (15 years ago?) - they're light, sturdy, have wheels, you can put the legs and pedal rods in them, and the one I have has flown all over the world. I love mine and would buy another one if they were still available.

Susan, I thought those were still available as a wheeled drum hardware case from SKB.... I might be wrong....

The Sierra Wheel-Eze is no longer made. It was a SKB3611W case.
SKB now offer a new version, still the same model number, but an inch or so narrower. Still fits a U12 Sierra...I have three of these cases...sold all my carpet covered cases!

Here is a Lost Cost/Affordable Option that works!! Takes a little innovative spirit, but with some scrap items that John describes, it works as good as any of the other "Softies".

Considering a lighter case myself (the ol' steel keeps puttin' on weight...).
The SKB version looks like a simple empty box - no padding, nothing to keep the steel in place.
Colorado Case has something interesting, but no wheels and I can't find the exact dimensions.
I do not want a soft-shell case; it needs to be hard shell to support other case on top of it.
Other options?

Thanks, Bo, but those look more like soft-shell to me.
I'm considering Jim Heep's cases - lighter but sturdier.
I've looked at Pelican and Gator - not sure what's best.

I have to believe the Brand X cases are fairly sturdy, Bob; I guess I'm just hesitant to buy a steel case that's the type of fiber board I've seen trap cases built with.
You travel a lot with yours, I imagine? Somewhat heavy things laid on top of it?

They are pretty sturdy. I'm using mine for a couple flights coming up soon. I know guys who tour with them with no complaints.
