I am sure this has been covered before But I haven't found anything truly informative on the subject.Not to mention that opening up past topics can act as a refresher for other members.
I would like an experience franklin pedal user's opinion on How to use this change, and how to look at it from a relative perspective.
What kind of tune would you use it on. What sound are you after when using it? I hear what I hear when engaging the change, And I am sure its far more versetile than what I come up with.

BTW. I have this on the "Zero" Pedal position (To the left of "A" Pedal)

I'm in the same spot. New steel with Franklin pedal. I use it on this song. It's a start and has helped me to hear other places where I can use it. Hope this helps a little.

Lane has addressed this question in previous threads - he has some youtubes up on the use of it. I don't have the time to locate the threads in my bookmarks, but hopefully he or someone else will be along shortly to post them.

I haven't addressed this change at all. I rarely use it beyond turning B (at the nutnut, with Es lowered) into B7.
Paul Franklin has a tape, Greg has some tabs. I got nothing yet.

LOL, I'm batting a thousand with bad info. lately

it's a great change, a great addition to what we already have. Sadly none of my current Steels have this change right now but I am adding it to one of them soon. When you hear the phrases that drop down in pitch thats the Franklin ped.
here are some simple examples. The ped was at the 0 position. These were played on a Carter Steel which has been sold.

Paul's cd lesson is really great and addresses some cool ideas. The B-B7 thing is great and the most sensible use, but ther e is a lot you can do. Some cool suspensions and 7 chords. Paul talks about using the 4 6th chord, A,F#, E in open position as an alternative to A and B pedals. Bouncing A and B to open down to the Franklin on 10,8,6,,4,5 grips is a fun flavor and you can always get back up to the pedals. I split it between LKR and pedal 5 on my G2 which really works for me. I love the 6th lower on its own with the B and E notes and have gotten to the point I can activate them at the same time ala Paul or use either on its own which opens some different colors and ideas. | A little-used but effective position is the open D9 tuning with the pedal engaged and the 9th string as the root (ADEF#F#A low to hi). Very useful for chord comping and open D hammer-ons/pull-offs. |

I would concur with Cody, if you can't have the full 5,6 and 10 lower, the 6 lower is a must.
