Gosh, I was going to apply for a patent on something similar. Mine would have a hard-mounted cigarette lighter and a holster for a pistol too.

I recall Carl Walden having a Fender 1000 like that back in the 60's. And Tom Morrell used to place drinks on the front neck of his Bigsby, which was unstrung.

That steel has mojo oozing out of it.
One half-functional D10: $1500
Sheet of alluminum with 2 large holes: $25
Still not having enough places to keep your drinks....
Priceless
I wonder if there are D10s out there for which one half is good enough and one half is bad enough to make buying them and doing a modification like this worthwhile. |

Now hold-up there Bryan and Lee. I don't want a quarrel but thems just plain outright disrespectful words that could cause an escalation of sorts. Heck I ain't even from Texas and I'm frankly surprised that I have to step-up first. EVERYONE knows that You just set yourselves up for some possible hostile feedback from ALL of Texas. I hope this don't get outside the forum. It could get ugly. Lee, at least ur close to the border and could make a run for it.
Think about it, "lone-star beer and bob wills music....".....ain't no songs hit the charts written bout no Shiner Bock....and I like that stuff but I ain't messin wit Texas.

Now, Now let's not get excited, I love Texas, I lived there ( seabrook) for a little while in the mid seventies, Even played guitar in a band there . They let me in as long as I didn't talk to anyone so they wouldn't know I was a Yankee. Beautiful girls, great food, friendly folks, and Bob Wills is the man! But Lone Star Beer, it's worse than Pearl, and that's saying something. Up here in Buffalo, we have learned to accept the fact that Canadians invented the best sport in the world, and make the best beer in North America, this is just the way it is, nothing to be ashamed of. I acknowledge that many of my favorite musicians ever are from Texas, just face the facts , Lone Star beer is grim. Also please note this whole thread is about fun and laughs so please no serious meanness but more jokes and laughter would be greatly appreciated.

Bryan you are so right on various points. (The first time I tasted Pearl I thought I'd choke to death.) But ur mostly correct about this being about fun. Oh, btw, I still say the modification would be improved if it had a holster with a pistol in it especially if there were blanks in it. Imagine around midnight when everyone is loaded pretty good and the steel player starts firing a pistol in the air. I'd piss myself laughing at that scene.
