MSA Red Baron? A curious choice. Mine had worse sustain than a box of saltines.

Forget the guitar. If money was no object I'd hire Doug Jernigan full time to teach me how to play this contraption

I was thinking along similar lines - but with Greg Leisz. I would provide transportation, lodging, and food for him. I identify more with Greg, but would consider any of the heavy hitters once the check cleared and once I bought replacement parts for my PP guitars, I'd fly him out here to give me lessons.

I really couldn't ask for more than my '94 Zum D10.
I might have Bruce put a fancy front on it or something.

However...

if money were no object,........
I would develop the next Gen of PSG using servos to move the strings.
Pedal and knee actuators would be fly by wire.
Copendants would be programmable via Bluetooth from an app on your smart phone. Tuning would be automatic with your preference of temperaments being programmable.

It would be sweet and light and everyone would want one..

That is if money were no object...

Smile

As long as we're fantasizing, I'd have a 3 custom made acoustic steels, with the changer and tuners integrated into one unit at the peg head, and a trapeze tailpiece that would extend to within half an inch of the bridge.

Like the Pedabro, they would be a single neck in the middle of a double size cabinet. One of them would have a dobro spider resonator, one would have a National biscuit type resonator, and one would be a tri-cone.

Since the changer would be at the keyhead, the area near the resonators would be free of all mechanics. Theoretically, this would allow the air in the resonating chamber to move freely, and make the guitars as loud and resonant as a regular Dobro or single resonator or tri-cone National.

It would be a very expensive experiment, and might be a total bust. But if any of the three worked, it might be the invention of a whole new instrument.

An S-12 Fingertip with 4 pedals and 6 knees. Extended E 9th. Stratospheric pickup, with Morehead mechanicals. And I have some 2/3 hundred year old Tiger Maple to make it out of.

BTW, the idea of putting the changer on the left side and freeing the air in the resonating chamber came from Jimmie Hudson.

If money were no object (as in, we could all pick ANY psg we wanted and none of them were more expensive than the others), we would all probably have more unique sounds since we wouldn't have the "it sounds better because it's more expensive" mindset. We would be more driven to make choices based on the sound we hear and less driven by popularity... we would all make music like rich producers who have access to anything they want.

If money were no object, I'd be buying time in a real nice recording studio instead of trying to buy the ultimate instrument.
