I've copied the ZMODEM docs to my web site, for easy reference. www.b0b.com/ZMODEM.TXT

Two famous taglines from the era:

"Ymodem IS batch!"
"It's all explained clearly in the ZMODEM docs."

When I started modeming in 1983 (at 300 baud), Xmodem was the standard file transfer mechanism. It transferred files in 256-byte blocks, with a handshake mechanism between each block. Ymodem improved on that with 1024-byte blocks, and the ability to xfer multiple files from one request. Both protocols were in the public domain and widely used on BBSs. Then came faster modems (2400 baud) and ZMODEM.

I've saved a copy for reading. I long ago wrote a modem tweaking web page that still gets hits from dial-up users.
