THX Bill ! Ordered one. Although the MF Deal of the Day is good at $59,( shipped) these mics sell from around $80 up to $129 at many outlets. It supposedly has a 1.8 u Ribbon so acquiring some spare material would be a good thing, just in case ! 
I'm not certain if a ribbon mic is in the cards for me or not , but at $59 it's worth messing with it and having it around. This MIC, is said to be a clone of the MXL R144 which has a 1.8 u ribbon. It is also said to have a very LOW output compared to other mics we may have, dynamics etc., so a strong quiet pre-amp would be in order. Also remember, NO Phantom Power or it will be a bad day for the mic , as in end of life !
If I don't like it, I'll send it back to MF !

$59...no brainer. another mic in the arsenal.
i have several old rca ribbons...44bx and a couple of bk5b.
the $59 ribbon got some decent reviews.
also the phantom thing....some say its a old wives tale, but im not going to test it!! |
