Here's to all you Weissenborn players, Dobroists ets.:
I'm very happy to announce my new book "Acoustic Lap Steel Guitar" which will soon be published by Mel Bay Very Happy

The text on the back cover says:

ACOUSTIC LAP STEEL GUITAR -
16 great solo arrangements for unaccompanied Lap Steel Guitar For the Beginning to the Advanced Player
by Peter Funk
This book is a collection of sixteen instrumentals arranged for acoustic lap steel guitar in D and G tuning. Lovely Hawaiian tunes such as “Aloha Oe” are included as well as more bluesy selections such as “Whistlin’ Blues” and “Careless love.” The book even includes an Irish ballad, “Down by the Sally Gardens,” arranged specifically to be played on a lap steel guitar. Special techniques such as “bar slants,” natural harmonics,” and “behind-the-bar-bends” are carefully explained. Accompanying audio is available online.

It begins with simple, short pieces and goes on to increasingly more difficult and quite demanding and ambitious transcriptions.
Unfortunately I don't know the exact release date, but sure will let you know.

Here are two tunes which are included:
Down By The Sally Gardens
Franklins's Dream

Someone who purchased my book lately let me know, that the folks at Mel Bay forgot to indicate a URL from where to download the Online Audio files Sad
I contacted them and they told me, they will remedying this issue. In the meantime you can download the files directly from Mel Bay: "Acoustic Lap Steel Guitar - Audio Files"

Have Fun Very Happy

Would these arrangements also work on an electric lap steel tuned to open D?

Yes they would.
I have a Weissenborn and of course most of the songs for it are in open D or open G. I play them all on my electric lap steels.
To me some of them even sound better on the electric lap steel. Either way it adds variety and a different instrument to express myself.
I also have a pickup installed on the Weiss. That really sounds amazing to me when it's amped up.
