I was wondering if anyone is recording using the direct out on the Steelaire? I have had decent results just mic'ing a cab and running the microphone into my Roland Quadcapture with Ableton as the DAW. I tried using the direct out of the Steelaire with an XLR out/instrument plug into the Quadcapture but could not get a signal? Any advice or sound clips of your setup would be appreciated!

I changed out a cord and was able to get a signal this time. Here's a sample of what I'm getting (please excuse the playing!)

Emmons push pull -> Hilton pedal -> Steelaire -> Direct out -> Roland Quad capture -> Ableton.

No effects, just the amp's reverb.

Any advice or comments is/are appreciated!

Paul,
It sounds good to me, but I would try it with a track to make sure that the steel will cut through. With a track you may want to had a little more high end to it.

Happy Holidays

Paul, when did you get a push-pull? Don't recall seeing one in lessons with you, but then I seem to have a mind like a steel...sieve! Good tone and playing on that test track, Mooney would be proud of you.

Thanks Mark and John for your comments. John, the push pull is a recent acquisition. The sound is so nice, hopefully I can get it set up properly soon.

Really nice Paul... you’re going to enjoy playing and recording that to some tracks...
and hopefully the rest of us will too.
