Hey,

This has been happening recently where the screw attachment on my legs pops off and is not connected anymore. I'm sure this happens a lot but what's the repair for this? I can press it in all the way into the leg, but it turns and is loose.

You could:
Mix up some epoxy.
Get a tubing cutter and remove an inch of the top, and drive it back in (this will result in slight asymmetry, as one clutch will be higher than the other three).
Take a sharp punch and put a few dimples in the top and drive it back in and the dimples will make it tight
Do all three, or 1 and 3.

All as Lane suggested - and use JB Weld in place of the epoxy. Great Stuff for this type of repair!

Ben, I cradle the lug between jaws in a vice which is spread but not enough for the lug to fall thru. Use a chisel and hammer and make deep "X's" near each end of the lug all the way around being careful to not let the edge that shows be on the vise, just the part that goes into the leg, Put a few washers and a 1/2-13 nut on the threads finger tight to protect them and knock the lug into the leg using hammer against the protective nut. It will go it very tight without any type of material. Epoxy or JB Weld would not hurt anything except being an little messy but if you make those deep chisel marks it will be very tight.

I see no reason to cut anything off the leg.

Be sure to score the inside of the leg, to provide a rougher surface for the epoxy or JB Weld to adhere to.

Erv, I suggested cutting the leg only because it's conceivable that the inside of the leg has gotten a little chewed up, and lopping some off puts you in fresh metal.

Ben, you have several methods and all of them mentioned here will do the job, just choose one and go for it. Smile I have fixed many of them and had no reoccurring problems.
