New to the steel here. Been at it about 2 months now. Wondering if anyone would care to share some signature licks they use often or some single note stuff to get from I to IV or V back to I? Just looking for some stuff to practice on. I've seen a lot of good stuff on here that's been helpful so far. But I know some of you guys have some "signature" licks you'd love to share??

Thanks for such a great site!!

Do you have the Winnie Winston and Dewitt Scott pedal steel books?

Both feature very common licks that will move you between chords. I highly recommend both.

Check out Youtube. That should keep you busy for a long time.

I use it when I have to learn a particular signature lick as I know someone has probably posted it there.

I've got the Dewitt one. I was just wondering if anyone would want to share a couple of their personal favorites for fun. Figured it might be a cool thread for beginners like myself to pick up some short licks to practice on.

To go from V-I or I-IV, let's say from C to F, use strings 5 and 8, slide from fret 8 to 6, adding the 5th string drop, then release that lever while dropping the Es.
OrOr instead of dropping the Bs, slide from I to 6 while adding the A pedal.

If you have two full bars to make the transition, this scale lick works

And the same idea going the other way
