I cannot run my old M Audio Delta 66 on a modern computer. I never record any more than one track at a time.
Any recommendations on port a studios? Can these things be easily coordinated with a pc?
So far I haven't found a usb interface that records anywhere near as well the sound card style that plugs into am expansion slot on a PC. _________________ Curbside Jimmy's New Act

well, before we talk about Porta Studios. I ran my Delta 66 on a previous WIN XP PC and now run it on a NEWLY built WIN 7 PC, no issues but you have to get the latest drivers from M Audio. The Delta series are still very popular and are used in many many home studios on very NEW PC's. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders

Is your windows 7 64 bit or 32 bit? I have not been able to get it to run on a 64 bit machine. As for the latest drivers from M Audio, as far as I can see they have taken down the Delta 66 drivers. I can't get find them anywhere on their site. _________________ Curbside Jimmy's New Act

WIN 7 / 64 bit , just acquired and installed the driver and setup the WIN 7 system maybe a month ago. The Delta 66 is active with Pro Tools 12.
Make sure you have in WIN7 /SP1 Service Pak.

Thanks Tony, I am going to give it another try.

Do you lack PCI? You can get PCI but it's harder than it used to be.
Does this help?

I have not tried them but I don't see anything missing. It's also kind of odd loading drivers from a third-party site - but you can get the version numbers and ask MAudio support about them.

No. The last Porta I'd have used was the Fostex VF16. Even then, you're using Lightpipe to get the tracks back to a PC.
I got tired of that so I adapted the Fostex FDMS-3 filesystem FUSE driver for Linux to be a standalone Windows program for pulling live recordings to ta PC.
The more modern ones use an SD card. You have to power off the Porta, pull the card and mount it on a PC. That's a way.

All the currently available USB interfaces work as well as your MAudio if not better. I have mine set for ASIO drivers with 2msec buffering. REAPER measures total latency at 4.9 msec. |
