$1100 OBO
I recently bought two pedal steels at an estate sale. I like the feel of the pedals on this one better than the fingertip Sho-Bud, but I really like the look and the potential of the Sho-Bud (and got a little bit scared by the warnings about how hard ZBs can be to work on!) so I've decided to sell this one.
I am NOT an expert, but I'm going to disclose everything I see and will happily answer any additional questions you have.
Per the experts on this board, the 0477 serial number puts this in the early '70s. The brass plate with the original owner's name says Phoenix, AZ.
The warts: There's a small gouge or two on one edge of the pedal steel that's down to bare wood. There's some corrosion from long-time storage in a basement by the original owner. The E9 neck (the only one I know how to do anything with) works fine, but there's a pronounced squeaking when you engage the pedal. I've neither cleaned nor lubricated it, so I expect that would really improve things, but I don't know for sure. There's a spot of lacquer crazing. There's some glue squeeze out on the player side of the board on the E9 neck.
It does come with the original case, which shows some wear and has some cigarette smoke odor I've not yet tried to remove.
I can drive to meet you within a reasonable distance of IN, or can ship for the actual cost.
Let me know if you'd like larger photos.

I have 3 or 4 in line for this steel right now - I think it's safe to consider it "on hold" and probably sold. Will update the thread if things fall through for some reason. |
