Just curious why they didnt put the cross shaft bracket on the msa xl's but they were on the classics. All of the undercarriage is the same. I am doing a total refurb on my old classic and was looking through forum pics and just noticed this.

From what Reece told me, it was decided that the center-support was "overkill", and that it probably wasn't necessary. Most involved thought that removing it helped the tone and sustain, so it wasn't used on the (newer) solid wood guitars.
I kinda think that the fact that it made the guitar lighter and cheaper to produce also entered into the equation. From a mechanical engineering standpoint, there's no question that the support did make the guitar stronger and more stable. |

Donny, I am contemplating removing this as I don't think there is a need for it but I wanted to see what other MSA folks think about it. I really cant see taking anything away from the tone I already love on it. The cross shafts are some of the strongest in the business as far as I am concerned. |

While I think they're not NECESSARY, I bet they do reduce cabinet drop. But the MSA isn't really prone to a problem with that demon. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

My 76 lacquer D10 Classic does not have the center support either. Reece said it was built for stock at the music store MSA once had at the factory. |
