I found this guitar at a local pawnshop. They didn't know anything about it but it very much looks like a Magnatone. The "Electro-Master" label even has the same font as the Magnatone. Was this some variant they were selling at that time? I tried it out for a couple of minutes. It has a nasty buzzing sound unless you physically are touching the string guard to ground. They are asking $180 for it. I am going to hold out but I thought it was interesting.

My apologies for the dark headstock photo..

Yup, it's a Magnatone. They built steels for probably a dozen or more brands and just changed the label on the headstock.

haggle them down to $100

Change tuners new machine head stay in tune
Check top nut for string buzz. May need changing
Pickups may need a good clean as do their pots.

Tell them you will pay $210 if they do all the work and replacements for you.

But to be honest it's probably better getting a brand new 6 string for that price. Whoa!

Point out what's wrong with it and offer them $120. (or start with $100) I bet they take it. I would guess they have between $60 and $80 in it.

Good Suggestions... I think I will go in on Monday to try it again and bring the Cube along so I can better know what it can sound like.

And also, to better waste their time because the wife's birthday is right around the corner and I see no Electro-Master in my immediate future but it still sounds like a fun evaluation.

Who knows, maybe I'll fall in love.
