I bought a nice Tonemaster English Electronics from a fellow steeler on SGF that needs the vol and tone knobs. anyone have a couple. Or have or found something close to these in looks?
I have looked at a lot of knobs on the internet but haven't spotted any yet.
and also looking for (needles in a haystack) legs to fit the English Electronics Tonemaster and for the National Grande console. Both use legs with a 3/8" x 16 thread plug. These size legs were used in Supro D-6's, and Harmony Roy Smecks, and I suppose many other older makes.
I am waiting for a reply from stands-34 to see if he might have access or would make a few legs.
Thanks
Dick

Got a picture or a link to a picture of what the knobs look like? I've got a box of old radio knobs but probably nothing you haven't already seen online.

Dick,
Those look very similar to the knobs on my Supro and Oahu lap steels as well as my old National electric guitar. I believe they are all Valco products. Sorry, I don't have any spares nor did I come up with anything similar in my box of radio knobs. I'd periodically check ebay for "ivory radio knobs" and see if anything shows up.

Thanks Bill:
Yes I agree, they are exactly like the ones on my Oahu.
Thanks for checking.

Dick, have you checked Antique Electronic Supply? Looking at your photos, I believe that they have some very similar styled knobs:

Also, looking at your photos, it strikes me that lacking any thing else, Tele knobs might look good on your guitar.

Good luck in your search.

Michael thanks.
I'll check that out right now.
Dakaware was a company that made these old knobs I guess, so I googled and found their knobs, some fairly close looking.

Okay, I found this site and lost it in my internet wanderings. Yes those knobs will work just fine, only difference being a line on top instead of a dot, but just as nice and will look good.

Now for legs. I think I'll start a new thread regarding the legs.
Thanks again Michael.

Okay, got the vol and tone knobs taken care of.
bsgsteelguitars makes legs for the early steels for about $35 each, so the legs are taken care of.
Now for those little knurled knobs that hold the plastic pickup cover on tight.
I started a thread on the knobs, so far one lead to McMaster Carr.

I'm hoping someone else has actually bought some of these and can tell me for sure where they got them.

You can see the knobs in the Tonemaster picture in this thread.

The knurled round nuts should be available at Ace Hardware or similar well stocked hardware store. I've bought them before at Ace, but they only had brass ones, ...worked fine.

Just found them at Home Depot:

You would have to know the thread size (diameter and pitch), or take the steel with you to get the correct size.

Thanks Denny, "Ace is the place" as they say. My next trip to town, will check Ace and Home Depot. It seems like I've seen those used as switch knobs for some small lamps too.
Have a great 4th.
