Hey guys,
I was playing a show last night and my F lever (LKL) broke off of my Sho Bud Pro I. Not the lever itself, but just above the axle where it connects to the mechanism. What are my options? Could I solder it back together or get a machine shop to weld it, or do I need to buy a whole new lever kit? Photos below.
Thanks.

Talk to Michael Yahl at www.psgparts.com
You should be able to replace just the broken bit

I doubt it's even possible to weld the bracket together, and even if it was it wouldn't be worth it.

I would strongly recommend getting replacement knee lever brackets (the part that broke) for all of the knee levers, if you can swing it. Then you won't have to worry about it happening again. At minimum get a replacement for the broken one. No need to replace the lever itself.

Possible sources for replacement brackets, made of aluminum instead of the lousy "pot metal" that the original ones are made from, are Michael Yahl, James Morehead, and Jeff Surratt at Show Pro guitars. All can be found on the Forum.

That LKL bracket was the Achilles heal of that Super~Pro type undercarriage. I broke that bracket 3 times when I had a Super~Pro. Replace it with a real aluminum part.

Hey Dylan,

I have plenty in stock. Here's the link to the page:
http://psgparts.com/Bracket-Lever-Knee-Pro-Series-125-100.htm

You need the 125-100-1 Standard Knee Lever Bracket.

Just order through the website.

Thanks everyone! I think I'll just replace all three brackets so I have some piece of mind. I didn't realize they were notorious for breaking. Good to know. Glad you guys know a thing or two because I'm still new at this.

Get the Michael Yahl or James Morehead brackets. I suspect they are a much higher grade of metal. Probably nearly 40% higher yield stress. Don't bother to repair that turd.

Might as well go ahead and replace the other 3 they are made of pot metal and will eventually break.I had to do the same thing to mine

yes get Mikes and Mike has even built a better bracket than OEM specs the allen screw does not screw into the corner of the hex like the originals but directly into the center of the hex shaft providing better stability

Thankyou Brent for mentioning me. Yes, we make a much more robust bracket.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I ordered 3 brackets from Michael Yahl and will replace all three when I get back home. I bought the steel sort of on a whim because I don't see many for sale locally and it seemed like a good deal for the shape it was in. It's clean and plays great. I paid $1500 Canadian (~$1200 USD) Any thing else I should look out for that I should replace before it goes?

Dylan ...another part which chops out over time is the pot metal bracket that the pedal rod hooks into ... compare your first two with the ones on the C6th neck and you will see what I mean .. I believe the guys mentioned above probably have those as well.

I had a Pro III, and I kept breaking the bracket on my E to F lever. The lever was made of CHEAP POT METAL. The first time I was able to take it to a fab shop and had a guy do a tack job. But it later broke again. I finally had to break down and order one, from the late Bobbye Seymour. It cost $20.00 back in 1992 but it was made out of aircraft aluminum. And it lasted. I don't want to say anything bad about the late Shot Jackson, because he did build a great steel. Bu,t when It came to the knee lever brackets, it left something to be desired.
