This started off as a demonstration of a Whole-Tone scale over a V-I progression, but it kinda got away from me...

Sort of stupid, but at least it's short Laughing

Steve, what the heck are you doing around 0:25? It sounds like something Buckethead would play on guitar.

Wow, that's some wild stuff! That's an excellent demo of hammer-ons and blocking, Steve. The videos are coming fast and furious here in the "straight steel" section of the forum!

Too cool for school, Steve!

Whole tone scale, Frank, played via hammer-ons & pull-offs. 'Gives you that "Hey I'm floating ... I'm unresolved ... help! ... I'm unresolved .... oh, I just resolved to major...whew!" feeling.

Too cool indeed! I need to play around with that. I love being able to get sounds not usually associated with lap steel.

I have a lap steel just like that, Steve!

You might enjoy this whole tone marimba piece I recorded a few years ago:

Thanks a lot guys. I almost didn't upload it to youtube because it seemed so nonsensical, but it really struck me as being the truth of that paticular moment, so i decided to let my freak flag fly.

Exactly what Andy said...a whole tone scale with a series of hammer-ons and pull-offs. Right hand muting is of paramount importance.
