Has anyone found a reverb plug-in they like for PSG? I'm not very excited with my results so far (ProTools 11). A lot of them have that digital metalic ring to them.
I'm tempted to take my dry track and route it out to a real Lexicon reverb pedal or rack unit and back in as a wet track ( then mix them together)

The Lexicon Reverbs are nica and lush, but pricey.
Your other idea would be my way of doing it.

The AIR Spring reverb in Pro Tools works pretty good. I took a preset, and modified it then saved it. I have the Lexicon Reverb Bundle, if you want, I'd be happy to add some reverb to a track for you. I have also used your outboard method and it works very well. I have a Lexicon PCM 96, MX 400, 200, or a Roland SDE1000 I could insert in a track for you, feel free to E-Mail me if you want |

Thanks to all. If I try routing the signal out to a hardware reverb device, do I get any latency? (Maybe I don't care, it's reverb after all)
I like AIR. Also have IR plugs.

Tom, if you're using the plugs in PT, try using some delay as well, perhaps timed to the track and a different length on each side, triplets, etc. Also try inserting an EQ before your reverb and rolling off some of the highs going to the 'verb.

Usually these plugins are transferable from one program to another. The reverb plugin that comes with band in a box is good. So is the reverb with ntracks.
I use mixcraft 4 to record with but those are better plugins than what comes with mixcraft although mixcraft reverb is not that bad.

| You will get some latency through an outboard device.......but PT gives you the number in samples at the very bottom of the channel strip in the mix window, if you want to offset it |

tweak the plug in to your liking, start by removing any pre-delay settings. PT's has several reverb plug-ins, as is the case with many DAW's. There are too many variables for the common man for each of the Reverb/Delay settings.
The pre-sets are a starting point. I too use Air Reverb more often than not, I start with small room, no pre-delay and tweak until I like it, then save it with a new name.

Thanks to all. And thank you Jim for the kind offer. But I need to learn how to do this myself. I used to have good results with Altiverb, but don't have it anymore.

I'm in a 14 day trial of Altiverb right now. It's a neat convolution reverb, but I don't think I'm going to spend over $500 to get it.
I've learned that when I think the reverb is sounding the best, I often realize later that I'm using too much. It's really easy to overdose on reverb, especially on vocals because it sounds so good, but too much is not a natural sound and tends to wear my ears out.

I don't know if PT supports VST plug-ins, but OldSkoolVerb from Voxengo is simple and sounds great on steel guitar. Excellent vintage reverb and free to download and use.
