I've always loved the sound of steel through a Leslie, so I recorded a whole album of it. I've checked out various sims (and sometimes play through them live), but what you hear on this record is the real deal. It's obviously taking the place of an organ, but I was really trying to make it sound like a steel through a leslie, not an actual organ, so I didn't use any pitch modulation, or any electronic effects. There's also a lot of crunchy steel on this, if you're into that... I hope you like it! I hope it's not bad protocol to put a link here--if it is, I'll take it down, and you can find a link in the new product announcements. We're not making any money off of this--it's free to download. I just always wanted to have an album of leslie steel, so I made one. Very Happy I hope you enjoy it!

Very impressive Ethan.. Outside the box as far as "pedal steel music" is concerned. Kudos on playing all the instruments on almost every song,, Obviously you are quite a talented guy! bob

Actually, this knocks me out. I'm not a blues fan, but I dig the tunes, the singer, and the Leslie had me right off.
I've listened to the whole album and letting it play over,
this is so something from Jimmy Smith, really autentic r&b or whatever you call it.
Well assembled album, good production, really it.

Sounds great! I have Hammond buddies, and they say Jimmy Smith used the Leslie plus the cabinet vibrato at the same time. No doubt about it. If you're playing through a Fender amp. add some vi-brate-oh! You'll get even closer to the Jimmy Smith sound.
