Band in a box with real tracks is a wonderful tool for making background tracks.
But sometimes the drum fills are wild!, the Piano track plays some crazy altered chord, and the Bass player walks or runs in the wrong places.
MY FIX: is a little old school, but with some new cut and paste digital trickery as well.
I work with BIAB in the normal way, making an arrangement by entering chords. When the piano comes up with a nice part I freeze the track, and likewise with the drums etc.
Then I transfer the tracks individually to my digital recorder, and sync them up in time perfectly.
NOW THE TRICK is to replace the bad fills with a good part from the same track (I have to search for the right chord change to match on piano or bass or guitar) The drums are easier because no chords are involved.
The result is a perfect (to my taste) arrangement, that I can mix in real time with my board's faders. I can also add outboard effects, pan, compression etc. just like a real live band recording.
Now perhaps there is something in the BIAB software the would allow the same edits within the program, Please tell me if I am missing something!
It would be great if you could cut and paste a line from a single track and have the performance not change when you restart the song...

Have you or do you use realband. I use it to generate my tracks and pick the parts I need. It came with BIAB. |

I open my songs with realband. Choose the track option. This shows all the tracks individually. Then you can cut and paste all you want. Works for me. Good Luck. I do always choose save as to save my work and rename it so the original will still be intact. |

Wow! Never could figure out what Realband was all about. That would be great to be able to cut and paste with everythng going with the paste. I'll have to revisit Realband. |
