on Dolly and Kennys Christmas song . I,ll be Home With Bells on. was it Hal Rugg doing the solo ?. it sounds a lot like his style. and also would any one be so kind as to have the Tab on it. would love to see how he done it., sounds like a lot of 1 .3 4. 2. strings in it thanks for any help

I'll bet anything it's not Hal Rugg, and I don't even think that's steel. There was a guy in LA in the 80s and 90s named Jim Cox who did a scary good impression of a pedal-steel on a synthesizer, bends and all, and that sounds just like him to me.
I just looked it up on on allmusic after writing that, and sure enough Jim Cox is credited on keyboards, but no steel player. And it looks like it was recorded in LA, most of the players were LA guys, not Nashville.

WOW. Pete. sure fooled me. he sure did some job on it . even a slid down to the lower register sounded like pedal steel. so by the looks of this then i am not getting any tab  .thanks for the information guys. can,t belive it. sounds so much like pedal steel wow.

Wow. Jochim , yes that's it he sounds the very same on that instrumental [ T-Bird to Vegas] as he dose on Home With Bells On. very talented guy. gotta be a tab some where for[ Home With Bells On , would love to see it. bet Greg Cutshaw might have something could use your help here Greg if you feel up to chiming in here.

Heard this song last evening & decided to look up the steel player.
Not a difficult one to play really, if you are a half decent speed picker. Imagine my surprise when I came across this thread.
Now I'm bummed out - I thought that was steel guitar for years, especially with those speed picking signature licks.

| We're doing that song again this year in our Christmas shows. I always thought it was strange but didn't even think it might not be a steel. Now that I know it I won't be able to play it like I used to. Oh well, I'm re-retiring after these last shows. |
