Afternoon

Looking for help to identify this old lap steel.

My initial thoughts were that it was homemade but now I am not sure.

The white "binding" is actually painted on.
The screw on back is rather ornate and well done.
The big M on the headstock may be a clue.

Appreciate any help to identify this old one

Thanks
Mike

It could possibly be a Mason, the ones I have seen have the whole name printed vertically in ever descending sized letters. The M on yours is very similar in design to the M I've seen in photos of those guitars. The guitar design, however is quite different. The Masons were made in Galt ON.

The tailpiece/bridge resembles the one on my Hagstrom bass from the '60's. Other then that, I haven't a clue. I'll be watching to see what the steel guitar detectives figure out.
