I don't know how the majority of you Forumites truly feel however, if during the remaining years of my life, I could have the opportunity to work a session with Joey McKenzie (Quebe Sisters Band) my dream about music would have reached its fulfillment.

I used to fantasize about playing a session with the likes of Grady Martin, Chet Atkins, and Homer Haynes and a few others.

It would be simply wonderful to be able to play a song or two, and being able to hear all of CORRECT musical chords being played in the appropriate spot.
For so many years, I've had to grin and bare it with fellows playing the wrong chords in the wrong places which simply broke my heart.

What's your feeling about a strong and accurate rhythm guitar player?

Ray It's unfair to expect a person to make the right chord choice when there is 3 different chords in every song.

'Eldon Chamblin, greatest living rhythm guitar player alive.'--a guitar player
I'd say it's important.

The best rhythm guitar player I have seen is Bob Weir of the old Grateful Dead.
He was very important to the band and was extremely accomplished.
He knew where his guitar was supposed to be and he and Jerry Garcia
created a wonderful complementary guitar mix to every song IMHO

Hi Ray, I met him when they played in Portland one time, and as I recall he said that he is from McMinnville, Oregon.
I think some of the local Steel players know him.
Maybe there's a chance you guys can hook up?
Have you contacted him through their website?

I have to say that one of the best rhythm guitarists I've ever heard is Basil's wife, Patricia Henrick. She's never showy, and just patiently plays along behind Basil for hour after hour, without ever wanting the limelight, even though she herself also plays pedal steel, but her rhythm is always steady and faultless. Cool

Yeah, but Joey's exceptional and that kind of solid comping on guitar is a dying art.

That's what I love about the world of music - just when you think you've divined the most accomplished players in the various genres someone else comes along and confounds your preconceptions.

Let's club together and buy Mr Boyd a D'Angelico!
