I have a Gretsch Tenn. Guitar it does not have a S/N # on the dead stock. Is there any other place on or inside the Guitar it might be?
Just trying to get a year of the guitar.
I bought the Guitar in 1964 used it look like the neck has been replaced.
Any Help
Thanks
Larry

Lyle, the sight would be very helpful if I could find a number, don't know where else to look?

There is nothing visible on the out side of the Guitar, nothing on the head stock back or end.

This is the Tennessean with painted "F" holes.
I have never took the pickups off. Don't know if any #'s are under them.

Thanks
Larry

Larry I have the Tennessean and the serial # can be
seen through the top F hole. Since your F holes are
painted on have no idea where to look but would
guess it might be on the inside back of your guitar.

The website on down the page tells you where Gretsch located the guitar serial number for different years. If it's not on the back of the peghead it is probably pre- 1967 . I think that painted F holes started in1963 -69 for the 6120 series or Country Gent, Tenessean and Nashville models. If you still can solve it call a George Gruhns in Nashville .

Lots of older Gretsches have the SN on the top edge of the headstock stamped into the wood.

If you can see the volume & tone pots, there are some numbers on the bottom/back or the sides of the pot itself.
If you can get a set of numbers off of one of the pots, then you'll be able to date the guitar within a yr or so, if they are the original ones.
