Here are a couple of pics of my new (used) D-6 Stringmaster that I said I would post today.

This steel just needs a little TLC. I would like to know what kind of cleaning products work best so I won't damage any parts on this instrument. Jerry

Wow, it looks extremely clean, Jerry. It looks like new! I'd say it's early 1970's, in spite of the Kluson tuners, which Fender was phasing out in that era. The finish looks like the later, poly finish. Not the earlier nitro finish. It's is great condition.

I've got to say, I'm starting to get a hankering for a double 6!

Doug .... It's a very clean guitar. I just need to go over some nooks and crannies to remove dust and clean under the tuners.

Stephen .... Thanks for the advise on cleaning products. I appreciate it.

Jeff .... I had a "hankering" for a double 6 for quite awhile and finally pulled the trigger. I'm glad I did! Very Happy

Jerry

If you want to get anal retentive about cleaning your Stringmaster, remove the diamonds and loosen the bolts that hold the necks together. Then you will be able to "floss" between the necks.
Over the years I've probably owned about 40 Stringmasters, my favorites are the mid to late 60's, early poly finish ones. I much prefer the look of a nitro finish, but I think the later ones sound better. I think it must be the pickups...

Carty, I've had about 20 Stringmasters over the years and I agree that the later ones sound a little stronger and cleaner. For recording though, I like the sound of the 1950s ones a little more. There seems to be more grit in the tone, to my ears anyway, and I like that.
