Please help if you can. I have an E9 steel but the 3rd string sounds muted or "dead" hardly any sound at all. I have changed strings with the Live Steels but so far no help. Any ideas? |

Are the surfaces of changer finger and roller nut smooth? If they are rough or have a groove worn in them it can cause that sort of issue and will need some resurfacing. Try sliding the string over slightly on the changer finger and/or rotating the nut roller a bit, see if it improves any. |

How about the amp? Wrong EQ and it can sound dead. _________________ GFI Ultra Keyless S-10 with pad (Black of course) TB202 amp, Hilton VP, Steelers Choice sidekick seat

Check for dirt or oil or something on the arc of the finger.
Or a burr. Move the string forward or back just a smidge and see if it sounds better. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Isn't that normal, unless you have a pickup that lets you adjust each string? |

Try a .012 instead of .011, you have to nurse it up to A but it will work. |
