Here's an NPR stream on the Bakersfield country scene of the 50's and 60's.

I am very proud to have been a big part of that town Bakersfield California not Texas in the Country Music History movement with my Crawfish Band at " Freddie's Top Of The Hill " with Big Bill Garner & Leon Copass. The memories I have there with Bill Woods,Lawton Jiles,Billy Mize,Merle & the boys and Buck & Bonnie and their gang. Winking Uncle Leo J Eiffert Jr. & the pigeons facebook.

As far as I'm concerned Dennis Payne belonged anywhere good Country Music is. The man is a great writer,Musician and knows his way around a studio control board. Thanks to Smiley I have a lot of Dennis's recordings,am lucky to know him and have witnessed his talents many times. Dennis still works the Nashville scene and recently was working the Nashville Palace.Weylon was a big Dennis fan and DP knows I am.

Don't forget our old friend and steel guitar great Larry Petree.... Larry was good enough to play with anyone he wanted to but he opted to stay with the Bakersfield Fire Dept. instead. Last time I saw him was at Trout's in Oilville playing with Red Simpson.. Larry's one helluva player, uses E9th and A6th instead of C6th....JH in Va.

True Jerry just like Robby Pratt who was Buck Owens personal limo driver on the Bakersfield Fire Dept. & took great care for Buck. But, who gonna care who Robby Pratt is? No body. Am working hard to get the real History of what we all did for the World to Know Country Music really was in Southern California in 60's,70's,80's,& 90's before it all went to hell in a hand basket. And when I see so many old dog friends on this forum from out here who don't even get it,it let me know where they were in that time. Winking Uncle Leo J Eiffert Jr & the pigeons facebook - with some Crawfish.
