I agree 100%. I don't know why performances like this one of Narvel don't get noticed here more often. This is certainly a great emotional performance and it got the others singers attention. Thanks for posting. I enjoyed it a lot.

I got to play for Narvel a few times back in the '70's and I have to say the emotion in his singing is equaled by his humility. We got to spend some time with Narvel and his dear wife, Loretta, at the Speedway Hotel at the Indy 500 track and he treated us as though we were not just back up pickers but friends.
I also recently reconnected with his drummer, John Gardner who is now working with Don Williams. Lots of great memories, thanks for this post Donny.

I agree Donny - Narvel is the ultimate in country soul singing. Try this cover (his biggest hit) of Johnny Adams "Reconsider Me", and then listen to Johnny's original.
