I really liked what you were doing. Looked & sounded like a diminished 7th on the top/high strings. Also appears we have walked on some similar paths. Hope we can connect if you visit Medford. |

Good job Dom. Now lets see some more videos on your you tube channel. I agree with Bishop Ron, one of my all time favorite songs. |

Don: Yes I have a full diminished chord on my upper strings (3, 4, 5 & 6) I also have an augmented triad on strings (1, 2 & 3) The lower half of my tuning is just the standard A6 with some lower notes added.
I just played a Gig in Eugene, OR last Friday... It was a long drive. How far are you away from there?

Hi Dom
Medford is the largest city in Southern OR a couple of hrs drive south of Eugene on I-5, a hefty distance from the Portland area. Again, if you are in or plan to visit the Medford/Southern OR area I hope we can connect.
Would you mind sharing how you have your steel tuned for the song? I saw a posting where you shared one tuning where your top strings were tuned to the bottom four of the Leavitt tuning but probably an octave higher.
One of my steels is a Sierra 12 string "lap" steel I've been experimenting a bit with tunings. So far I've settled in with a Bb13th with a couple extra strings on top to get major 7ths, ect. Seems to have undiscovered potentials that I'm slow in finding. |

Very nice. I was particularly impressed with the way you were able to concentrate on both the vocal and accompaniment simultaneously. If I sing, I usually just play chords, or otherwise I would forget the words, something which I'm likely to do anyway.
But playing the accompaniment as smoothly as you did is equivalent to the singer also being lead guitarist, which is rare except for filling in riffs between verses. Well done.
By the way, that's one of my favorite gospel songs. I originally learnt it back in the 60s from Brownie McGhee. He and Sonny Terry made a magnificent gospel LP with that title, which is usually overlooked. |

Hey Dom,,,that was GREAT,,,,also what I would call a perfect lesson in "how to play back-up",,,where to play and where to lay out. Also very tasteful on one of my all time favorite songs. You can post as many of those as you want!!!!! |

Thnx for sharing your tuning, Dom. I see several potentials at first glance. I hope to do a matrix chart & study the other possibilities. Your excellent efforts are really valued & expanded my horizon. |

That's what I was thinking while I was watching your left hand. |
