That was Rob Ickes in the movie. Rob is in a great Bluegrass group called Blue Highway plus a few of his own projects on Rounder record label. He has been Dobro Player of the year at least a half dozen times at the International Bluegrass Music Association awards plus he's a super nice guy. I almost forgot, he has instructional videos and the company that makes National instruments, is making a Scheerhorn Rob Ickes model resophonic guitar exactly like the one that he plays. |

Rob has won Dobro Player of the Year 15 times and odds are it will be 16 at the end if this month at the annual IBMA event in Raleigh.
We had a long thread on the new National/Scheerhorn guitars awhile back. I played the Ickes model about a month ago, outstanding guitar. National is doing a great job on the guitars.
Aside from being made solely by Tim Scheerhorn there is a significant difference in some of the materials: Rob's main personal guitar is Brazilian rosewood back and sides with a spruce top, his Ickes model National uses East Indian rosewood for the back and sides. _________________ Mark |

And was the third bell on the 3 Bells project coming out tomorrow (a project from Jerry Douglas, meant as a tribute/swan song for Mike, who was in the end stages of his cancer. Fortunately Mike didn't lose his hands). _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
