Visited with Buck yesterday in Salt Lake City, UT. With Buck's permission I wanted to share 2 pics of his new Infinity Pedal Steel. Sorry the pics are fuzzy. It has Telonics Pickups on both necks and sounds awesome as you can imagine with Buck sitting behind it.

The pickups on my new Infinity... Buck's guitar and mine were built at the same time and I'm assuming have the same pickups... are a version of the 409 that Telonics refers to as the Type 610 and are custom designed for the Infinity. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Really putting the new guitar through the paces on a very intense summer tour schedule with Lyle Lovett and his Large Band. The tour is going great and my new Infinity is more than up to the task! Thank you Frank Carter for building such a fine instrument and thanks to all for the views and comments!! _________________ www.BuckReid.com |

Frank is a master at his craft. I've seen several guitars he has "modified". I always wondered if and when he was going to start building his own guitars. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, NV400, NV112 . Playing for 54 years and still counting. |

A world class guitar for a world class player. Look forward to hearing it being played by the maestro at the Irish steel festival in October. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator. Yes Marc,
I totally agree and almost 2:45 minutes worth of it.
Talked with Buck after the show about the the new guitar which he loves, such a nice guy.
Another great thing was that sound was real clear and not overpowering. With so many instruments playing all at once you could still hear Buck loud and clear.
Thanks Buck for spending the time to chat. Have a great time on the rest of the tour. _________________ Regards, Craig

I hate to throw water on this thread, but I have a question if I may. Just curious as to when these steels were ordered from Frank. I tried to order one back in mid-September 2013 (I still have the email) and Frank said he was too busy to take on another project, and now I'm hearing he, like Bruce Zumsteg, is no longer making steels.
I really wanted an Infinity, but I'm not bitter, I do have a Mullen. |

DG,
I think Frank and Bruce reached a point where they just don't want the pressure of orders, and deadlines. Like you , I contacted Frank , and he politely explained it to me. I had the pleasure of meeting Frank in Dallas, and it made me want one even more. Yet again, he wasn't taking deposits. He offered to put me on a waiting list, but offered no promises or time estimates.
Bruce told me the same thing years ago , very politely. He wasn't taking deposits. I was willing to wait for one. No waiting list as well. |

Steve, I do understand and agree with your post.
It just seemed to me to be who was ordering as to whether they got one or not, just my opinion based on observation. Congrats on those that could.
That being said, if they're not selling to the general public, then they should either take their websites down or at least modify them to indicate they're not taking orders for new PSGs or just for parts only.
You're either in business or you're not.
My 2 cents, YMMV. |
