Looking for some opinions on tone bars.
John Pearse cryogenic 7/8 bar or Dunlop 7/8 bar or one that you might recommend.
Thanks |

Been using my BJS for somewhere between ten and fifteen years now. The best. But, if you are limiting yourself to only the Pease and Dunlop, go with the Pearse. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, NV400, NV112 . Playing for 54 years and still counting. |

+1 for BJS bars.
Jim Burden's "Bullet Bars" are equally good. I have both and they are equal in sound.

Between those two go with the john Pearse . The dunlops have a coating that wears off eventually. I use my john Pearse bars on a regular basis. Totally pro level great bars. _________________ Bob |

I also think the John Pearse is a really excellent bar. Better than the Dunlop, for sure. I also have a BJS bar, the Pearse is comparable, in my opinon. |

Years back Wayne Dahl turned me on to Bill Rudolph's bars(williams guitars). We did a tone test and felt like it was the best. I also use Pearce and a 12 string BJ bar. They're all great but I felt like the Williams bar had a great tone.

John Pearse is as good as any if you use nickel strings. The Pearse is hardened stainless steel so no chrome to ever wear thru or peel off. If you prefer to use stainless steel wound strings than a chrome plated bar or Zirconia bar is better because stainless against stainless creates drag. Just like all other posts this is just an opinion. (Mine).

Micheal. Don't get hung up on which is the BEST bar. Its like tone, The best is the one you prefer. I have heard hundreds of players in my 35 years of playing and I know they weren't all using the big name bars. i have heard great players from all over the country and they are using anything from the BJS, Pearse, Zirc and so on to hollowed out home brew ones and the real players sound great no matter which one they are using at the time.
A best bar is the one that YOU like the best. They are all a little different but they all do the same thing.
