This little youtube of a guy playing the "100 most famous bass riffs" made me wish that someone would put together a clip like this on pedal steel - it would be a tremendous learning tool for us newer folks who don't know the greatest riffs and how they are constructed....

I don't study riffs to parrot them back - I do it to see how the great players use all those levers, pedals, and strings so I can learn how it all connects...there are so many ways approach this instrument and go from one note to the next....

You may want to check with Ricky Davis.. He had a deal of 50 or 100 hot licks tab out sometime ago. There is enough variety if I remember correctly to really help you in your quest.

Ricky tabs very accurately and is a great player in his own right. Your idea is great as his tabs can be a great contribution to the product.

Hmm....I have the Kevin Ryan hot licks stuff....Haven't tried Ricky Davis. I don't really want tab, though...I really want a youtube where I can see it played, hear what it sounds like, and then figure it out if I want to....I guess that is the way I learn...hearing it and watching it somehow makes a better connection...I like Mickey Adams and Johnnyup on youtube...

Yeah, I couldn't find Ricky Davis' site any more either...that, and finding that bass guitar video, is what led to this post...I'd certainly pay for a video...

Steve,

There was audio of the licks as well. I am with you; not trying to memorize licks but learning one and applying it to your own music could be a help.

Actually Peter; thanks for the promo...but the link you put up is how to get everything I tabbed for a lot of famous intros and solos; it's like almost 400 of them.
The picture you put up is from my video "share a lick" and comes with tab. Alot of that stuff is shown on my video/MP3 and are just cool licks and turnarounds I either made up or put together or used part of an influenced lick from my mentors; and some famous intros and solos too.

Ricky-
If you are still making that video+tab (from the contents page posted) available, I'll post the link here....if not, let me know and I'll delete this post..(it turns out that, long ago, before I was ready to really appreciate it, I bought that package! and now I'm ready for it...)

Here is the link:

Ricky-
Can you post the contents page from the $40 package? I expect it will be great and I'll go for it, but I'd like to see the contents to be sure...I expect others will like that also...thanks
