Like Ron, I hate opening this section, but somehow get the courage to do it anyway. My heart goes into my throat every time I get ready to click the link.

I didn't know Bobby outside of the forum, but would have been honored to have known him. My thoughts go out out to Bobby's family and friends. RIP Bobby.

I find it hard to believe that my friend and mentor Bobby Bowman has left us. He put up a long and good fight, and as he told me last I talked to him, he wasn't worth a hoot. He knew he was going to a better place, he was at peace with God. God has a great new player for his band. God bless his soul. May peace be with Toni, their family, and all Bobby ' friends.
I will miss you my friend.

I hate this.

You know; Hollywood back in the late 80s and early 90s started a revolution to put and end to HIV and AIDs.
Liz Taylor-Michael Jackson etc...

You don't ever hear of anyone dying of these diseases anymore.

Cancer; we just keep taking it. We just keep accepting it like its a normal part of life.

All the celebrities we know! How long are we going to wait for the cure.

How long are we going to accept their lies?

45 years ago this month we landed men on the moon and returned them safely to earth with nothing more than transistor radios and we can't cure Cancer?

Horsehockey!

RIP BB

One of the very best steel mechanics ever.

At the conventions there could be 5 conversations going on at the same time and Bobby was in the middle of all of them. Going to miss you buddy.

This is very sad news. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing.
I didn't really know him, but we had met and chatted a few times.
On my first trip to the Dallas show, I ran into him as the elevator door opened at the hotel. He called me by name and welcomed me to Texas. That was a total surprise, since I hadn't gotten my name tag yet, and I didn't think he knew who I was.
I'll tell you, after that, I stood a little taller and had a little more spring to my step.
My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and many friends.

Vaya con Dios, Mr B. I wish I'd gotten to know you better.

Sad news indeed. Like he did with so many others, Bobby befriended me the moment we met. He will be missed.

In 1990 I lost my father to cancer(pancreatic) and although we knew it was inevitable and we thought we were ready we were not and it is the same hearing about Bobby today. Jack Stoner said it best early on in this thread that when as soon as you met Bobby
you had a friend and that is indeed rare. My prayers to Toni and family during this time as they will need them from all. Bobby's kindness, knowledge, sense of humor, mechanical ability, and his playing will be missed by all of us forever.
Rest in Peace my friend.

My sympathy to all of Bobby's family.,, I never met Bobby, but as a Christia, Mason and a PSG player, I consider him a brother. I am a funeral director and see person after person, regardless of age, who have been lost to cancer. I wish the US would spend whatever it takes to eradicate this awful disease.

Too many people have died from cancer. I agree with Sid Hudson on this. I just cannot believe there has not been a cure. We are losing too many steel players to such disease. I just can imagine Bobby Bowman, Hal Rugg and many others having a celebration playing steel guitar. Down here we are left with the pain and suffering of losing such a fantastic steel player and gentleman. I pray for his family during this most difficult time.

We've lost another great legend in our steel guitar family. Dr. B., was and is a great example of a Christian Brother, always willing to help others in their time of need be it spiritually or mechanically. Such a sad day for us, a glorious day for him. Our deepest sympathies to Toni and family.
