Our band usually plays pretty loud and it is hard to hear any quality sound but today we practiced at a normal volume and I could not get over how great my Emmons sounded through my 87 Evans. A match made in Heaven.
Thanks to Ron Lashley, Derrell Stephens and Jim Evans. _________________ Billy Knowles

About 1990 I saw a local classified ad for an Emmons D-10 PP so I went to north Raleigh to check it out. As I recall, the man was selling it for his brother who had recently passed away. The guitar unfortunately was in sad shape, with loose mica, heavy corrosion, etc. On top of that, being mainly a Sho-Bud player then I didn't know then how to adjust PPs so I couldn't get the pedals & levers in tune. BUT, the man had it plugged in to an Evans amp & the sound was AMAZING. Because of the poor condition of the guitar, though, I thought it was really the Evans amp was responsible for the sound I heard. I offered to buy the Evans but he was not interested in selling it. Looking back & knowing what I know now, it was really the Emmons PP AND the Evans amp that made the marvelous tones I heard that day. Conclusion: I think you guys are on to something! |

I agree. Mike Jones has a basket weave LeGrande / Evans amp - one of the best sounds I've ever heard. |

Ditto Billy...After I got my Emmons from you we went to Emmons Mfg in Burlington. I purchased an Evans amp from Jack. Serial #8617. Sounded so great then and continues to sound great today. NEVER EVER had the first problem with it. _________________ Cherokee SD-10

Billy, I have to agree, that is and has been for a long time an awesome combination. I bought the first small cabinet fet500 that Jim sold in Louisiana in the mid 70's to pair up with my '76 push/pull. I have had at least 10 or 12 since as I used two amps a lot in those days when I could carry them around. Currently without an Evans but still with a p/p but am able to get by with a '67 Dual Showman head and a couple of 15" JBL's. Wouldn't mind having another brown faced fet500 though.
