Here's what Rose wrote on our FB page... I can't add a thing to it!

Excellent steeler Larry Toliver, along with son Kacey (guitar and vocals), and Todd Baird (bass) will be coming all the way from Merkel, TX to play a set of country and western swing at the ASGC. Our own John Chandler will be on drums. Larry's been playing steel for 30 years, including stints with Freddie Fender, Mickey Gilley, Larry Gatlin, and others. He runs the West Texas Steel Guitar School. Find out more about Larry Toliver and the West Texas Steel Guitar School at:

http://westtexassteelguitarschool.com

2pm - jam and individual tunes with the band
3pm - Larry Toliver set
4pm - more jamming with Kacey, Todd and John
Come to play and listen to a great set of steel guitar music.

Well, I guess I could add the venue:

290 West Club
12013 U.S. 290W
Austin, TX 78737
(512) 288-0808

.. and the date... Sunday, April 13. This stuff appears on FB but it didn't cut-n-paste.

I really like the way the Toliver boys make music. I sure hope I can attend. I'll be coming back from Port Aransas in Gary P.'s van and don't know if the band guys will get up early enough for me to make the scene at the 290. Sad

Herb, I do hope you can make it... won't be the same without you.

Also, I need to add that John Chandler can't make it, so Larry's bringing his *entire band* for us to enjoy! This will be a very special opportunity to see them in our area... for free! I will be taking donations in order to offset their gasoline/hotel/etc bill... but folks, it don't get no better than this!

We actually had a 3 hour practice session with the band Sunday evening. I'm planning on being well prepared. Kacey is singing 4 songs that are steel oriented (heart of a clown, above and beyond, etc) and the guys are all excited about coming. We are also doing Shiny Stockings, which is one of the toughest songs I've ever worked up. It is now one of my favorite songs. Also, Wills Point, Steel Guitar Jubilee, Shuffle Off To Tupelo, and as many more as it takes. Please come out and introduce yourself to me!

A big time was had by all at the April 13 Austin Steel Guitar Coop monthly jam. Larry Toliver and his band did a great set, his son Kacey Toliver tore the roof off with his vocals, and the jam sessions included 3-part steel harmonies to "Across the Alley From the Alamo" led by Roger Edgington from San Antonio. Other jammers included Stephen Cowell, Adam Przybyla, Rose Sinclair and Larry Toliver.

Larry Toliver runs a pedal steel guitar school with top players on staff. Check it out at: http://westtexassteelguitarschool.com/
