This really points up at least one reason to NEVER refinish an old instrument. The first 3x8 custom was refinished and they are asking $775.

The one below it is original and they are asking $1850. Both are in comparable condition otherwise.

Lynn: True, but it also points out the value of shopping around. Eighteen-fifty for a Custom, even one in excellent condition?! This is full thousand dollars above what similar instruments are going for elsewhere.
In the past I've bought a number of instruments from Elderly, but their prices are too rich for me these days.

I have an early 50s walnut T-8 custom that I've been trying to sell and was rather astounded to see what they're bringing. I'm not used to thinking I'll try to sell something for $875 and find that I've gotten offers of $1700+. Makes for some some pretty warped thinking about whether or not to sell it at all and, if so, under what circumstances. This thread just adds to my confusion...
