I don't know if this has been posted, but I just saw it and it knocked me out! This sent me straight to my guitar to figure out some things.

Gary, you've been sandbagging us haven't you? Smile

p.s. I just saw where this is posted in the Steel Players section. Oh well, it deserves to be posted twice.

Thx Randy and yes it had been posted but it needs to be posted a 100 more times. I feel Gary set the bar for YouTube clips on how how they should be done.

Also he smokes this tune and I'm with ya, been sitting at the steel working on it since I saw it!

Same thing happened after hearing you play for me as well!

This is the third time it's been posted in recent weeks, Randy, but I can't get enough of it! I watched and listened, then listened and watched - and it sent ME back to my guitar as well.

(Mind you, your stuff has had that effect on me many times!)

What a marvelous demonstration of technique, good tase and sheer musicality this is. Gary is now right up there in my top five players' list!

The part that really lights my fire is Gary's use of chords. You can call them 6/9, major 9, quartal, or what ever you like. The fact is they are 3 note chords where the intervals are stacked 4ths. I've been exploring these myself for a while now, and it was great hearing Gary use these so fluently. One of the examples I'm talking about starts at 1:30 into the video.

Has anybody else taken note of this?

And yes, I'm also a big Nickel Creek fan!

Randy,
I love that part of the song. I have been working on a single note lick that Gary does in the bridge and I planned on working on that passage next. Any pointers on how/where he's getting those beautiful chord voicings?

I am old enough to remember a tune called "Classical Gas" by Mason WIlliams. I equate this piece to that tune. Seems to me that Classical Gas made the classical guitar a hit.

This is precisely the type of tune that should be promoted for our instrument.

This piece transcends the Pedal Steel Guitar, and is simply a terrific piece of "Good" music.

On Facebook, I promoted this piece to all my PSG friends, by simply quoting the legendary Dike Ellington; There are only two types of music, good music and bad music.

This is very good music.

Thanks RC

His guitar always is in tune, isn't it? Thanx, Robert, hadn't heard this. His bridges are extraordinarily beautiful.
