I already miss his irreverent humor and great playing. He had a tough go of it over the last several years, but managed to fight through it pretty well.

We've been friends for 30+ years . He was a good pal, great player, truly unique and intelligent person. RIP "Friendly Little Eric"

I just received a call with this news from our mutual friend, Harley James. Very sad news to be sure. We'll all miss Eric very much around here. I've always admired his playing skills, as he was a top notch player and never had any trouble getting gigs around these parts because of it.

I'm blown away...........

I did not know Eric personally, but had some really good conversations on this forum, and the off topic.

I learned a few things from him as well.

Yes, he was more intelligent than a lot of folks could grasp.....

I always liked our conversations, as well as banters.

Man......... I'm really sad to hear this.

God rest his soul.

Sad

Sorry to hear...he was a friend and a great player. His posts usually made me laugh...and think. I feel for his family and those of you who knew him a long time. I know he loved greasy fries, dogs, pedal steel, family and friends. He will be missed.

RIP Eric

Eric was a very important part of this community.
We never met, but shared many emails.

He will be missed. The world is a better place because he was here.

I was told he had maybe a month to live about a week ago, just goes to show you you can not wait for tomorrow hoping to give someone a call or go to visit.

Eric was a great commercial steel player and a pretty darn good guitar player as well. He played in the Portland area for several decades with many bands and was always a treat to hear.

To me Eric was almost a mental genius, he could speak about any topic and had a "view" about most of them. I had a hard time following him most of the time, so I just smiled and nodded and smiled some more as if I really understood.

Eric was the only modern day player I know that dressed with a suit jacket to play (most of the time)no matter the gig, he always looked the part and played the part, he came to entertain and did just that night in and night out.

I will miss his hour long phone calls, and I already miss him. Thanks for the memories old friend.

I certainly wish that I had had more interaction-with and listening-to Eric time, but am grateful for what I did have.

RIP, and the most heartfelt of condolences to his family and friends.

Bad news, indeed. I spoke to Eck a few weeks back and he sounded his usual `whatever` self. He'll certainly be missed here for his incisive (sometimes misunderstood) humour and his honesty. My heartfelt condolences to you, Audrey and all who knew and loved this GENUINE Human Being. I'll raise a glass to you tonight, Eck.

All The Best, Pal.

Arch.
