I have a MK F style Legacy mandolin with Fishman active electronics built in. The factory set up left a lot to be desired, but set up is where MK cut corners to get into this price range. They did not cut corners on the quality of the wood or workmanship. I re-did the set up on mine, and for tone and playability I'll put it up against any mandolin in the $2000 price range. They took great care in the fret spacing... mine plays true all the way up the neck. It has outstanding tone and power.

I've played mandolin for over 30 years. MK mandolins are real sleepers. This is a great deal for someone wanting a nice mandolin without having to lay out a couple grand. If you can do setup work, you're set. If not, you can have it done and still be way ahead of the game. I love mine, and I'm not easily impressed.
