It's ok, Mr. Cohen, we all know you mean well. You just wanted us to have all the sides of the picture and that is what we love about you. I'll catch up with you in the jazz room? There is a story I could tell you on that subject. Here is not the time or place. NO worries.

The arch still looks like an amazing place.

it is my first trip to st. louis as well mr hartley. I am so excited to be able to play on the talent show. I look forward to meeting you. I really enjoy your youtube videos and would love to get the chance to meet you and maybe pick some with you. You would take it easy on this 17 year old wouldn't you?

hope to see you there my friend.

Very Happy

The Arch...
I got stuck on a new ride at a theme park in the UK at Thorpe Park or Alton Towers or somewhere.... Its the roller coaster called Air.. It is a coaster that sends you round facing the ground so its like you are flying... 20minutes was enough to be hanging in the seat at the end of the ride.
I may still go up in the arch ride though!

You could just go to the train museum....

Nothing scary there, and the only place I got 'stuck' was in the souvenir-shop where I couldn't make up my mind which book I was going to squander my money on!!! Neutral Neutral Neutral

(I was wondering what to by Jim C. for a surprise gift... Very Happy )

Do you remember if the metro train goes over to the train musuem? it's on the other side of St. Louis, following the bypass? Take I-44 to I-270 (going north) a little ways. Near Kirkwood. looks like 40 or 50 miles from the hotel. (maybe that's not the right place?) My guide book, that came just today, says get tickets for the arch early. So I am thinking If I get to the arch 15 minutes before it opens, I can do that and then take in one more site before I need to get back for the evening. The metro leaves from the arch area about every 10 minutes. I should be able to do those 2 things before the festivities begin Friday evening. I got a month to think about it.

There are so many things to do in St. Louis, it is just amazing. I'm almost overwhelmed with all the possibilities. I just found out that one of my favorite places to get chicken wings is only about a third of a mile away from the hotel. That museum does look awesome, but I have never been in a helicopter or on a paddle boat on the Mississippi River.

Also in St Louis and not far from the Hotel is THE HILL, A fabulaous collection of Italian themed restaurants that are in a word EXCELLENT, Should you want to go to any of these restaurants I recommend a reservation. There are some fabulous grocers on the hill that sell and ship meat, cheese and other delicacies also.

http://www.thehillstl.com/

There are some great Jazz and Blues based clubs within walking distance of the hotel,

BBs Jazz Blues and Soups, has some smoking bands and excellent cajun food.

The arch grounds have been tuned up and improved and the Arch is always worth the ride, but if your claustrophobic or afraid of heaighrs watch the movie from the Museum below.

Laumeier Casino has opened and is a fabulous casino with restaurants and gambling. its very close to the Millenium hotel. Shopping Centers such as the Galleria, and other new shopping areas and malls such as the St Louis Mills are all a short drive away.

But the best thing to do is Enjoy the concerts and musicians and Steel products that these vendors bring to St Louis, its the biggest and the best and we look forward to you coming to our city each year.
By the way if your scared to ride the arch tram, Dinner at the Yop of the Tower is an awesome surprise at sunset or after dark. We hope youll come and make memories as weve done.

Jim - it wouldn't mean much if it came to you so easily. How much more satisfying would it be if you bought it yourself?

(I can't believe I wrote "...what to BY Jim C...."!!! I meant 'BI', of course... Very Happy )

I HIGHLY recommend Forest Park! There is a wonderful art museum, the History museum, and the St. Louis Zoo, the Muny Opera, and the Science center/planetarium- all in Forest Park, all Metro Link accessible.
The arch is very cool, don't miss it!
The Pagaent on Delmar has some great shows, you'd have to check their schedule. The Delmar Loop is a happening area for live music, including Blueberry Hill, where on a good week you might catch Chuck Berry, or any number of other national acts. Riddles Penultimate in the Loop has some great local acts(including yours truly),and some local jazz on Wed. and Sunday.
The Hill area was mentioned, there really are some great restaurants in that area.

Feel free to PM me with any questions, I've lived in St. Louis my entire life. JP
