Ginger,

My heart is so heavy right now. I never met Larry in person, yet I considered him family - He was a gentle soul who spoke of his own family often. He enjoyed a good joke, hung out in the Humor section, and always played along with our possum shenanigans.

I nicknamed him Larry WEST, since he lived on the West Coast; Larry Robbins was dubbed Larry EAST since he's on the East coast. Farris called them "His" Larrys.

Ginger, we pray that you find peace amid your sorrow, and know, too, that you will always be part of our steel guitar family. Please let your extended family know that we also pray for them.

Rest in Peace, Larry (West) Strawn.

Sad Chuck Back called me this morning with this sad and tragic news. I can't believe this has really happened. I have been watching this event with guarded caution and praying for Larry to return to good health. I have known Larry and Ginger for many years and have sat in with them, from time to time. Ginger is a very talented singer and Larry was a good guitar and steel player, and most of all he was a gentle soul with a humble heart. I am in shock and disbelief at this time. Ginger, if you need anything that I can help with at this time please call me @ 753-7620. Go rest high on that mountain, Larry Strawn.

Thank you so much Bill. He was always appreciative of your talent. He learned so much from watching you. I want to thank each one of you. You have all been so kind and I know Larry would also want me to express his appreciation for your most kind words, prayers and concerns. He loved this forum and he spent many hours on it talking to his friends. He thought a lot of all off you too.

I will post the time and place for the services as soon as I know.

Ginger

I only new Larry through the SGF and have enjoyed his humour over the years as Larry West, along with other devotees of the `Humour` section. Ginger; I spoke to you a couple of weeks back and can honestly say I feel a great deal of sadness right now.
All of us on the forum will cherish the fond memories we have of a Fine Gentleman.
