John, Thanks for tip on the Time Jumper's write up in 5/18/08 Nashville Tennessean. The Academy of Country Music has nominated steel guitarist Paul Franklin, bassist Dennis Crouch and fiddlers Joe Spivey and Aubrey Haney in the Best Musicians category. The ACM awards show is broadcast tonight on ABC. Here is link to Tennessean article which also talks about John Hughey:

I think it flashed on screen VERY quickly that Paul had indeed won the ACMA for steel guitarist of the year. Congrats Paul! You sure deserve it.

Yes - Congratulations... Paul is the best of the best, and one of the nicest people you would be likely to meet.
I only wish that you would have been presented your award on TV, but - I guess that it is what it is.
We know what your work has done for the "stars" for many, many years.
