Topic: BIAB to GarageBand questions |

I have just started to use BIAB on my mac (macbook pro 17", Leopard), once passed the shock of the ugliest, most convoluted GUI, proprietary shortcuts, idiotic save locations etc... I am quite impressed with all the power of BIAB and have decided to use it as an editor/pre-processor for GB.
I have encountered only a few problems so far, one of them being the absence of midi mapping control on GB, the other one is that I cannot transfer the slowdowns that I have created in BIAB.
Does anyone know how to address these issues?

Not sure if this answers the questions, but if you can create a midi file or audio file from BIAB, you should be able to drag and drop it into Garageband (which will create a track of it) and go from there. |

Bill,
thanks for the answer, I appreciate it. Actually, I knew about the drag and drop and did it, and it works fine, except for the instruments assignment, BIAB piano becomes a GB clean guitar etc.. and when I slow down a bar for an ending on BIAB
it does not slow anything on GB.
I was wondering if anyone knew what the mapping on GB was so that I could modify the tracks assignment on BIAB accordingly.

Edward, I'm having similar problems.
I just converted Crazy Arms in BIAB/Mac to MIDI, but instruments became things like flutes. The bass track I could make a decent bass, but it was on octave lower than normal, and I don't know a way to fix that. Anyone know?

It' a long time since I done any midi stuff but
you may need to save the midi files in another format

| John and Edward, to reassign instruments to something similar to what they were in BIAB, double click the icon next to the instrument name. This should reveal a list of software instruments for you to select from. And to fix the bass problem, make sure the track editor is visible, select the bass track and enter "12" in the small window next to "Region Pitch". Hope this helps. |

| Garage band does not let you change tempo during a song. You need Logic for that. Worth the money! |
