Delurking to announce that I'll be playing pedal steel again with the Nevada City-based Deadbeats at Pete's 881 Club in San Rafael on January 25-26 (Friday and Saturday). We played together for the first time a few weeks ago at the Miners' Foundry in Nevada City and pretty much levitated the place.

It's a really fun band. There's a good balance between doing a lot of tunes and stretching solos and vamps. It's such a refreshing change from splitting the one solo and maybe if you're lucky getting a four-bar kickoff. (There is something to be said for that, though. Years of that type of structure made every note that I played really matter!)

As the name may indicate, the Deadbeats do Grateful Dead-style tunes--and quite well, I'd say. It's not only GD tunes, though there will be a bunch. There are other covers and originals that should please you. They certainly please me.

There may be suprpise guests that wouldn't be a surprise if I told you.

Best regards,

Pete Grant

I don't have it at hand, but it's on Lincoln, which parallels the freeway on the west side and it's a little south of the numbered streets. It's in a light industrial area and I think it's not too far from Studio Maintenance Center.

I'll get the address at rehearsal on Wednesday, if not sooner.

Hope to see you there.

Best regards,

Pete

A search of the net brought forth the address:
PETE S 881 CLUB
721 Lincoln Avenue
San Rafael CA, 94901
 (415) 453-5888

It's listed in the Polish Darts Association web site, as well as Casino City.

I'll try to be there!

Thanks, Brad!

The club has new owners and they have just started booking bands.
