Ok- a titch of news about this. MSA has designed a fretboard overlay w variable intensity diffuse back-lit LED lighting. It can be retrofitted to other steel guitars however due to possible patent/design infringements it will be available with either MSA or generic artwork in either 24" or 24.25" scales, powered by rechargeable batteries or AC, use mini usb connectors, less than .200" thick, and have a projected price of less than $300/neck. The batteries can be mounted under the guitar with the cable exiting the fretboard on the players' side of the keyhead end of the fretboard. It will hopefully be debuted at the Dallas Steel Guitar Jamboree in March. The new "LFrets" system will be a built in option on all 2014 MSA guitars with the controls built into the necks and no exposed wires.
