You might even go the opposite route and try a
.010 for the third string. Worth a try if you are reluctant to tune down. |

I tried mine in the pre-EQ effects loop in a couple of Peavey amps, and that quieted the hiss considerably, while still producing the desired effect the unit was intended for. | |
