When presented with this kind of thing I generally copy what Fender did with their later versions... there's one amp in particular (a Rivera one?) that has a tube loop with pre-post gains... let me go ...

Well, if you want something to place before the VP then the Exotic EP and other clean boosters won't get what you're looking for... overdriving your VP is probably not going to sound great, if active. ...

I'm with Jack... +1 on the Mobile Cube. Rose, you've heard mine before... not loud, but nice, with stereo reverb, runs on 8AA's or a OneSpot. Didn't Bobby Ingano use one for a while? Here it is!

Large amps are the Voice Of God... but God gets quite annoying sometimes.

My fave setup is a Strat SSH into a small 6V6 tube amp like my tweed Falcon. A clean boost puts it over the top. And that ...

I have an 8 string reso that has a 'clunky' low string.

Trying to explore why, I note that the bridge inserts overhang the spider channel on both ends by roughly 1/4".

Here's an experi ...

Thanks for posting that catalog page Russ. So, at least for that year, they called the single neck Deluxe 8 a String Master guitar. Interesting that they chose a picture of the discontinued 26" ...

IMO the test of a good finish on a bar is to rub it across the high string... opposite of glissando... you'll feel noise and catching. BJS bars have no peer here... really too heavy for me, I use Pal ...

Most SM's just have a pot that shorts the neck pickup... giving a 'blend' of going from both to just bridge.

DeArmond made a stereo volume pedal that can be wired with one side reversed, like a pan ...

In the 1956 catalog there is a single neck stringmaster. In 57 it’s relabeled a deluxe.

There are three things about a lap steel... no, *four*, there are four things about a steel:

It looks like a bayonet bulb socket. See the notches for the ears of the light bulb? First use I've seen for this.

If that's what it is, you can just break a lamp and solder to the base. Crazy!
